Attitude of Senior Management is crucial to the success of a sales organisation. How many senior managers know what to do to improve process and control, do you think? Actually, the answer is most of them, if not all. So how come things don’t quite work out as they should? Probably for the same reason that most people know how to fire a rifle but often miss the target. Hitting what you aim at requires skill, patience and training. Indeed, staying with this analogy, many managers have a strange habit of doing the following when it comes to managing their businesses – ready, fire! then aim. Ever seen that before in your organisation?

There is a sequence and process that works in managing a sales organisation, just as there is a sequence and process that works when firing a rifle. Process is key, but so is attitude. If senior management adopt the right attitude to processes and manage these processes diligently, investing time and effort in ensuring the processes deliver – i.e. help the sales teams win more business – then all’s well.
